Individual Therapy
When I come together with clients, I actively identify goals and generate a plan to develop and enhance personal strengths. We reevaluate ones’ life trajectory and create an action plan for change. My power as a therapist resides in helping clients connect with their deepest emotions, values and desires. I use techniques to discard negative self-images, old habits and self-limiting perceptions. We co-create interpersonal and familial balance, esteem, wisdom that ultimately incorporates notions of whole body health.
I thrive in bearing witness to my client’s discovery of their core self and their movement toward meaningful and lasting change. This is my passion and my life’s purpose. I strongly believe we all have the potential for growth and expanded awareness. The process of therapy can be exciting as we discover how we can become the person we desire to be, and lead the lives we have envisioned for ourselves.
The process of therapy is unique to each person. There is no cookie-cutter approach to individual change. Your personality type, your personal history and your choices in life make you exceptional. Therefore, therapy should reflect this reality. A therapist should be able to appreciate and address the uniqueness of each individual.
A person seeking therapy deserves an experienced therapist who can address trauma as well as loss and grief. Traumas can be related to earlier childhood episodes or to recent events. A therapist must be able to recognize the nature of the trauma and treat it with effective techniques such as Life Span Integration (www.lifespanintegration.com) or EMDR (www.EMDR.com) A therapist must also be able to recognize mental illness and address this issue with clients in a way that is effective and non-threatening. At times, referral to a savvy psychiatrist and the use of medication is necessary in conjunction with the therapeutic process, for a successful treatment.
An effective therapist moves their client towards taking action for positive change, practicing assertiveness and self-empowerment, dealing effectively with depression and anxiety issues, finding creative solutions to life transitions and loss, and finding the courage to do the right things for themselves.

"I am so grateful for my therapy sessions with Matilde. She helped me unleash my creative energy and, most importantly, helped me face my fears, head on. I was introduced to new ideas and techniques, many of which I still use today. One of the things I really appreciated about Matilde is that during my journey, she was as excited as I was to discover my true self. She helped me take responsibility for my happiness and always reminded me that I should not strive for perfection, a big issue for me, but rather practice to progress. This is my mantra today."

"During a potentially life threatening illness, Matilde Konigsberg provided a compassionate place to uncover my own truth, set boundaries and learn new coping skills. Her guidance, wisdom and insight were extremely valuable during a very difficult time. Matilda has a gift for being caring and yet direct at the same time. She was able to provide a safe and comfortable space to tackle both my emotional and physical concerns."
