Couples Therapy
What if you could redefine your relationship? Would you do it?
In treating couples I utilize techniques and skills which support meaningful listening to help couples rediscover lasting, dynamic, and positive change in their relationships.
My therapeutic approach to couples therapy is that of creating a foundation in which communication is effective and respectful of each other’s needs and wants. I guide people to understand the differences in their gender responses so the expectations on each other are based on realistic possibilities.
I strive to guide couples also to celebrate their relationship, to build satisfying connection with each other, and to rekindle their original desire to be together.
Couples work requires an experienced therapist that understands couples dynamics and who is successful and comfortable dealing with anger and frustration that sometimes arises in relationships. A relationship is a fertile soil for personal exploration and a therapist can guide couples to find peace and to embrace each other’s differences as assets, not liabilities.

"Matilde has been a lifesaver for me. At first my husband and I went to her because we were trying to deal with his grim diagnosis of Stage 4 melanoma. But as time went on she helped me cope with much greater challenges in my life. I consider Mattie as one of the greatest gifts in my life!"
