Teens and College Students
Coaching teenagers and young adults is one of my all time favorite passions. It is a privilege for me to work with young adults. Teenagers and college students have great challenges ahead of them. They have to constantly deal with the social pressures related to their age, as well as demanding academic challenges and career choices. Decisions related to college and future life matters can be quite overwhelming.
Teenagers and young adults also deal with the tremendous burdens and expectations that society puts on them. Sometimes people rely on drugs and alcohol to “fit it,” to alleviate stress, to cope with demands, and to deal with family difficulties. Peer advice may not be sufficient or may not be the “right advise” and subsequently feelings of isolation and alienation can lead to depression or anxiety. Relationships with parents may not be harmonious and can also increase suffering.
Having a Life Coach can literally be a life- saver. A teen or a young adult can turn to a mentor as a solid sounding board to the challenges he or she faces. A mentor or a coach can be of tremendous support in helping create healthy relationships. She can also help identify situations that can be physically or emotionally threatening or harmful.
The support from a Life Coach can offer an invaluable guide to both academic success balanced with healthy life choices.

"I come from a close family that has always been an important part of my life and leaving for college was very difficult for me. A few months into my freshman year, I decided to have sessions with Matilde over the phone, since I could not do them in person. Doing this was the best decision I could have made for myself. After just a few sessions, I noticed that I was happier, doing better in my classes, and feeling more confident about my new life up at school. Matilde instilled in me a source of strength that I did not think I had outside of my parent's home. In my second year I still have that strength, but I also have the strategies I need to succeed in life at school and also to fulfill my dream of one day becoming a doctor."

"After leaving for college, and before working with Matilde, I felt lost and incomplete. There were issues from my past that were keeping me from moving forward in my life, but she helped me work through each one. Expressing my feelings to my parents was one of my biggest challenges when I was living at home, and got to be a lot harder when I went away to college, but now I am able to communicate with them much better. Now I am able to focus more on what is most important in my life because of the tools she has given me, which have helped me to be more independent. I am so grateful for this experience and am so glad that I can finally say I feel comfortable with who I am."
